Huffy Drops the Sledgehammer

Huffy is back in the BMX game—big time. After officially returning to the sport in 2024, the legendary brand just dropped its first pro-grade BMX freestyle frame in decades: The Huffy Sledgehammer. And this one isn’t just a nod to the past—it’s built for today’s riders who want progression, style, and performance all in one.

Built With Riders, For Riders

The Sledgehammer has been in the works for nearly two years, and Huffy made sure to do it right. Instead of rushing to market, they worked hand-in-hand with their Pro Team, taking direct input from riders like Nick Bruce, one of the best park riders in the world. Rising talent Huck Kurinsky also helped shape the 18-inch frame option, making sure younger riders have a legit setup to push their skills.

The result? A frame that hits the sweet spot between durability, performance, and authenticity—engineered by riders, for riders.

A Dream Project Turned Reality

For Huffy’s Director of Product Engineering and Development, Jason Jewell, the Sledgehammer is more than just a frame—it’s been a dream in the making.

“Even before we had a full BMX team, I envisioned a frame that could truly stand up to the demands of riders at every level,” Jewell said. “Once we signed Nick in 2024, development kicked into high gear, and the collaboration brought that vision to life. Every detail of the Sledgehammer was built with riders in mind.”

Tech Specs That Matter

This frame isn’t just about good looks (though the transparent teal and transparent black paint jobs over raw chromoly are pretty slick). The Sledgehammer is a 100% 4130 chromoly frame, designed to stay light without sacrificing strength. Huffy’s engineering team eliminated gussets, streamlined the tubing, and dialed in the geometry to handle modern park riding.

Here’s what you’re getting:

  • 100% 4130 chromoly frame construction

  • Frame sizes: 18-inch (17.5” TT) and 20-inch (20.6” or 20.9” TT)

  • Debossed Huffy Freestyle wordmark on the seat tube

  • 6mm dropouts with integrated chain tensioners

  • Removable brake mounts, cable stop, and gyro tabs

  • Colors: Transparent Teal or Transparent Black

  • Price: $349 (18-inch) / $399 (20-inch)
