On the same day they kick off the excitement of the 2023 World Championships, UCI announces the 2028 UCI BMX World Championships slated for Rockstar Energy Bike Park in Houston, TX.
Initially planned for 2020, the UCI, USA Cycling, and especially USA BMX are excited to see BMX of the highest stage visit the great state of Texas to kick off what is sure to be a year filled with BMX in the USA. In a release earlier today, CEO of USA BMX BA Anderson had this to say.
"We are thrilled to join our friends at the Houston Sports Commission in welcoming BMX fans around the world to this vibrant city and specifically to the Rockstar Energy Bike Park, one of the largest tracks in the country and the ideal setting for such an esteemed event. The honor of hosting this event here would not be possible without the tireless efforts and investments from the Houston Sports Commission into the sport of BMX for the last decade." Said BA Anderson, CEO of USA BMX.
As 2028 looms over those hungry up-and-comers, the US soil World Championships is an added weight on their bike, with the Olympics being located in the birthplace of BMX racing, Southern California. However, this should only add to the excitement as racers of all ages can experience high-caliber racing on and off the track for the entire calendar year.
But for now, let's try to contain our excitement and focus all our energy on cheering for our friends and family who are currently about to load into the gate and go for glory in Glasgow!
Go fast, Team USA! We'll be cheering you on along the way.
