The Greatest Race Up North

The BMX family filled the Chilliwack Heritage Park Barn to finish out the season, and the finale created a buzz that can only be felt at the Canadian Grands. With seven Canadian Silver Cups ready to find new homes, let's get into the races for the 2026 titles.
After two days of dialing in the M track and sneaking in last-second points, Superclass title chasers locked in for their Saturday night show. Allie McLean entered the weekend in the lead and, after a fierce battle with Dangergirl teammates Logan Lee and Elle Foo-Donais, the Surrey, BC, racer secured the top podium spot and the Female Superclass title. Max Ganakovsky also arrived with a points lead. Stacked up against a fast group of Superclassers, the Victoria, BC, Factory Motofill powerhouse left no doubt in fans' minds, winning throughout qualifying and once again taking the Men's Superclass main event and the 2026 title.
Joining the Superclass action on Saturday night, Trophy Dash and Futures racing gave fans a sneak preview of the amateur hotshots set to race on Sunday. The young, fast-growing Trophy Dash field sprinted down the first straight, and North Vancouver speed found the top spots. Olive Therrien, joined by Ella Johansen and Ariel Kelly, and Luke Moat, joined by Alex Hutton and Levi Warmen, not only claimed the Trophy Dash podiums but also earned bragging rights as the circuit's fastest up-and-coming racers.
The Futures ranks got in on the Saturday night action too, and it was more Dangergirl style, with Logan Lee and Elle Foo-Donais joined by Syndyt Canada's Lily Backman. Two mains, two wins: Logan Lee continues to stamp her name into the Canadian BMX scene with a wire-to-wire win that matched her Superclass lap. On the men's side, Malakai Bergeron showed speed to turn heads. Pulling Charlie Vanderveen and Ashton Berends along with him, Bergeron and Berends came up big for Ontario with a pair of podiums, while Alberta's Vanderveen took second.
With five Cups to go, Sunday's racing kept the action ramped up as the titles waited for their champions. Lap after lap, contender after contender, the Women's Cruiser title came within reach for some, but the reigning, defending Coal Hills champion wasn't letting the National No. 1 plate go that easily. BC's Laura Stewart went back-to-back, adding another line to the history books. As Stewart accepted her second Cup and white championship hat, the other women surrounded the winner's circle to support their fellow racer and join the celebration, a true show of what the BMX community means to each other.
The Cruiser title chase carried on with the Men's Cruiser mains, and it once again came back to a familiar face. Victoria locals cheered from the stands as the 41–50 Cruiser class snapped out of the gate. Bike Supplies' Randy Riches wasted no time getting out front. He entered the weekend with the points lead, and when he crossed the finish line, he retook it, making it official with the Cup.
We'd already seen her in the winner's circle all weekend. Logan Lee completed the sweep in Chilliwack, adding another win to her season and another title to her career. With three wins in class, Futures, and Superclass, all roads led to Lee leaving Chilliwack with the 2026 Amateur Girl title.
From familiar faces to places the Cup rarely goes, the Amateur title headed east to Ontario, where Stouffville's Julius Nielsen took the 10 Expert crown. Skying out the second straight and carving through the turns, Nielsen stayed in the title fight through a close points battle. He controlled the race pace as the 10 Expert class hit the first turn, then crossed the line with teammate Elijah Emery to secure the 2026 BMX Canada Amateur title. The pair of Daylights didn't just bring Nielsen a title; they also helped Daylight/Hero complete a Team Sheet sweep, going 1-1-1 to win the Title Team points race. With three wins in Chilliwack, the Daylight/Hero squad brought talent and determination to the barn, celebrated, and left as the 2026 BMX Canada Title Team Champions.

As the gate dropped for the final time in 2026, Chilliwack Heritage Park was left with a season's worth of memories. Seven Cups found new homes, with familiar names and fresh faces alike carving their stories into the history books. From Logan Lee's wire-to-wire sweep to Laura Stewart's back-to-back and the Daylight/Hero squad's Team Sheet clean-up, the barn showed once again why the Canadian Grands are the biggest party on the BMX calendar. The champions will head home with their Silver Cups and a little extra swagger, and the rest of the family will head back to the shop with a few more laps to dial in. One thing's for certain: the 2027 season is already calling, and the Greatest Race Up North will be waiting.
