Celebrating 50 Years: 7 Reasons to Be Hyped for the 2027 USA BMX Season

Fingers are going crazy on their keyboards after USA BMX announced the 2027 National Schedule. While racers are still putting on a show for 2026, let's take a look at seven standouts from the new schedule.

1. The Winter Nationals are back to kick off the show. Celebrating 50 years of BMX racing, USA BMX has elected to kick off the National Series in the desert at Black Mountain BMX. A Vegas opener has been fun, but something feels right about kicking off this season at the legendary Black Mountain BMX. Known for its fast first straights and dirt turns, the Winter Nationals stand as a great snapshot of the action on deck in 2027.

2. Back to Title Town we go! Grand Prix BMX is back on the schedule, this time in mid-March. Under new leadership, the Grand Prix BMX crew is eager to have racers from across the country experience their title-winning ways. With BMX legends, champions, and Hall of Famers in their roster of riders, the Golden State Nationals is bound to be a party in Perris, CA.

3. Pineview Park is at the top of our can't-wait list! While Minnesota in May may be a little chilly in the mornings, the racing action is sure to heat up the weekend at the home that built Alise Willoughby. From an empty lot to the BMX haven it is today, Pineview has built a strong reputation in the Minnesota scene, and they're ready to return to the National schedule with all the speed that comes with it.

4. NEW SURFACE ALERT! Music City BMX bounces back from the 2026 stop, laying a whole new foundation to prepare for another decade of Music City Nationals. Their new crushed limestone top gives the track a new visual look, but offers the same all-out speed that comes on race day. While we won't forget the 2026 weekend, we're ready for the 2027 redo of what continues to be a fan-favorite track to race on the National Circuit.

5. July is PACKED! Kicking off the month with Fourth of July celebrations out at South Park BMX for the Stars N Stripes Nationals, we then go to the middle of the country for the perfect All-American road trip race at Rapid City BMX. The Mount Rushmore Nationals put on a great show in 2025, and we're excited to see what goes down in 2027. Rounding out the month, we go all the way up to the Northwest for SeaTac BMX's Jet City Nationals. With planes flying overhead and beautiful trees surrounding the track, SeaTac and its volunteers are ready to open their doors to the national crowd. And lastly, we head from SeaTac to the Northeast, in Schenectady, New York. The final stop in July at Tri-City BMX is ready to show how New York gets down on the track. Just outside of Albany, New York, the Empire Nationals are ready to show you that Northeast style of riding the area has come to know.

6. While Labor Day weekend is usually reserved for the Derby City Nationals, the 2027 UCI World Championships schedule pushes the 8m race weekend into October, opening the door to celebrate Burdette Park's 50 years of racing. The Hoosier Nationals in Evansville, IN, brings National talent to their track, ready to celebrate five decades of racing in Evansville.

7. The new home to the future? Florida has long been a hotbed of ultra-fast BMX racers, but in the 21st century, the place to cultivate next-level BMX abilities is the Sunshine State of Florida. Starting and capping the 2027 season, both the Sunshine State Nationals at Okeeheelee BMX (January 15–17) and the Gator Nationals at Sarasota BMX (October 8–10) offer pristine facilities with local racers ready to challenge the traveling competition. During the 50th season, Okeeheelee and Sarasota are two perfect stops to celebrate the legacy and prowess of BMX racing.
