$299,264.22 Raised for LLS through USA BMX Race for Life

USA BMX & BMX Canada are among the top fundraisers for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Each year, riders gather donations and raise funds for this worthwhile cause. The “Race for Life” Series was started in 1981 to help a fellow BMXer diagnosed with leukemia.

His name was Todd Kingsbury from Waterford Oaks BMX in Michigan. Like many BMXers, he had dreams of someday becoming a top pro in the sport. Unfortunately, this dreaded disease would keep Todd from fulfilling his dream. When Todd’s friends and the American Bicycle Association learned of his diagnosis, it was decided that an organized effort should be made to help in Todd’s “Race for Life.”

This tradition continued in 2023, with BMX racers and tracks alike stepping up in a big way. Through Race for Life entry fees to online fundraising, USABMX members raised a total of $299,264.22 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

This is a huge accomplishment, and could not have been accomplished without the hard work and effort of USABMX tracks and riders throughout the United States and Canada.

In those six short years, Ryland has raised more than $200,000 for the USABMX Race for Life! Earlier in 2023, Ryland joined the Grey Market Podcast, where he shared some of the ways he has accomplished such a feat. We highly recommend checking out his interview.

As we wrap up 2023 and head into 2024, remember... riders don’t have to wait until their local track hosts a Race for Life event to start campaigning. Riders can create an account at www.usabmxrfl.org and begin fundraising January 1, 2024 through October 15, 2024.
